I produced a mini-DV multicam shoot of a Pankration rules Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournament and need two people to help me finish editing. Pankration style MMA is similar to what you watch on the Ultimate Fighting Championship but with the major difference being there is no striking allowed to the face. There were three mats going throughout the day with each mat being covered by three cameras.

for two much better quality samples (of different matches), go to the following links (may require Divx codec install):

Out of 9 cameras, each one obtained an average of around 5.5 hours of footage. The skill ranges of the camera operators varied from complete beginner to highly experienced. I have part of the tournament edited, mostly the matches that transpired on one of the mats. I need two editors to each edit the matches that took place on the other mats while I finish the one I'm working on and begin putting together highlight material.
Please note that the footage has already been captured to external hard drives and all files named in a logical manner that will make organizing a workflow fairly easy. Although the footage was captured as .avi files, I recently bought a Mac so I can capture to QuickTime on a Mac formatted external hard drive if necessary. I'm not yet sure what program I'll be finishing the entire project with at this point. I have Final Cut Studio 2 on order so I'll either be using that or what I currently use and am most familiar with (Sony Vegas).
Potential candidate MUST HAVES:
- Familiarity with sports style editing
- Be able to organize provided files into a streamlined workflow and edit efficiently
- Be able to commit to a minimum of 20 to 30 hours per week to the editing of this project until completion of supplied material
- Have an eye for detail and be able to make those subtle edits that add quality to the overall project.
- A reel (that is YOUR WORK, not someone else's!) that I can either view online or acquire a copy of on DVD.
As for demo reel material, if you have any multicam shoots that you've edited I'd love to be able to see samples of that. Highlight videos are nice, but a few simple clips of your editing that shows how skilled you are at handling multicam material would be a major bonus (especially if it's sports material).
NO FLAKES, PLEASE! I'm seeking professional minded people who are on the level. I will not waste your time and I ask the same of all those considering applying for these paid positions. Cut off time for consideration of the editing positions is Friday, May 11th. If you are unable to provide me with a link to, or are unable to mail a demo reel to me by the aforementioned deadline, please do not reply. I cannot hire someone without any sample work to base a decision from. In addition to your sample work, please let me know what your rate is. I am based in Los Angeles and would prefer to hire people within that area (this is not an absolute requirement, though).
FYI: I am producing another MMA Pankration video in August and will likely choose to hire one of, if not both, the editors I hire for this job.
Any questions, feel free to contact me by PM or e-mail at ellago@grappletv.com
Best regards,
Mike
