Secret & Whisper Music Video Premiere!

Beautfil set, lighting and camerawork. Really stunning.

It does get very repetitive to me. I usually like performance videos, but I suspect the fact the each bandmember is isolated ruins it for me...no interaction.
A small b-story of the same visual quality would help immensely in my (unprofessional) opinion.

thanks man. bummer you think it gets repetitive and old. its more of an artistic performance piece - something new and fresh rather than the same old band playing in a warehouse or something - so thats kind of what we were going for.
Oh I totally agree the whole "band playing in a garage or empty room" gets boring as hell, I just thought the parts where it goes to the single performance was the same transition to the same shot that made it reptetitive for me. I think if you guys went to a close up shot when transitioning or a different angle it would have mixed it up a bit.

we build the set - took about a week. haha and its not a big budget by any means, we just had a diehard crew.
Sounds like our crew these days :D

we're just two dudes making videos
That's exactly how we are over here in Baltimore :D

Great job as always man, just had some constructive criticism is all. I can't wait to actually have a budget to shoot something.

In the main performance, the widest shot. It look like the footage was hand cranked.. what settings did you do for that? Did you have to speed up /slowdown the playback music?

I think it could use a few extra scenes with a simple narrative with the lead singer, something easy where he walking around the room, discovering the handle, being inquisitive. I think this could help break up the repetition a little. It feels like a big budget video... I personally love it, I'm a big fan of fast cuts and performance videos.

I think the label got their moneys worth! I cant wait to see what you guys can do with a bigger budget. Love the music & the videos. After watching it the second time, I think this video deserves a bigger critque from my first reply. well done guys. Im jealous!

for the wide shot you are referring to we shot 18fps i think and then sped up the song to accommodate that so that in the edit he is still singing in sync with the song - does that make sense?

thanks man!

Dude. You guys get better every minute...

Can you describe how you built the set a bit as far as materials are concerned. I'm doing a project where we will have to do something similar.

Thanks for sharing and once again, you guys rock.

still in awe from seeing your reel. your work is something we should all aspire to do with creative choices and artistic perspective. awesome work man!

we just built flatsthen cut out windows
wallpapered them
aged the wallpaper

build a small grid on top and attached tin ceiling panels

the floor is 2'x2' squares made from planks of 2"x4" wood and then we just put doors on top of that so it was above ground level.

the windows were attached with hinges

You guys Rock!!!! I've had the pleasure to see you guys working on the greeen screen set in Cranberry, PA for one of your music videos. You guys are very talented. I am always blown away by what you can do with the HVX! Actually are you guys going to be involved in this weekend promotional shoot in Pittsburgh?

You mean the commercial spot with Bryan? Yes, we are directing/producing it. Its going to be really fun - and hopefully really funny as well. Who is this exactly? Is this the DP that Cinemanix uses? We're excited to meet you if so, Bryan had nothing but good things to say about his crew.

Yes I work with Bryan. This is Maz and I am one of the DP at Cinemanix. I believe I may be the assitant DP or camera operatort/assitant on this project. I am not sure. What ever you guys need me to do :) ....I am just really excited to finally work with you guys!

I agree with hiro, looks like a big budget video. Great work on all the DIY (set, lights, etc.)

I did think there was a little bit of repetition but the artistic elements, style, and creativity definitely shine.

It's fun to do what you love, eh?
