Secret & Whisper Music Video Premiere!

Check out our brand new video for Secret & Whisper. The video was shot all on HVX and a lot of post work.

http://www.purevolume.com/videos/174

After the premiere we will post our high quality quicktime for people to view as well. I'm definitely not happy with the compression of the streaming video used for the premiere, but it will let you all view it if you'd like.

We'd love to hear your thoughts!

As always you guys do an amazing job, the lighting was spot on, the performance was pretty badass and the story was quirky like they always are.

Now for the first half of the song it gets really repetitive, with using the same transition to go to the same shot of the drummer/bassist/guitarist and it gets old really quick, it almost made me want to skip past it. Now the ending was great, it really kept my interest with the variety in the shots and cutting. I wish it would have had that in the beginning.

The location is badass man, did you guys build that set? It seems like the more videos you guys do the bigger budgets you have to make some kickass stuff, you should post a blog about what you do for all of us out here in DVXUser land :)

The video never starts for me, it just says "loading video" and shows a guys face. Is there a problem with the player or should I just continue hating my computer? :)

thanks man. bummer you think it gets repetitive and old. its more of an artistic performance piece - something new and fresh rather than the same old band playing in a warehouse or something - so thats kind of what we were going for.

we build the set - took about a week. haha and its not a big budget by any means, we just had a diehard crew.

haha i'd love to answer questions that you'd have, but i dont think people really care enough for us to explain everything we do - we're just two dudes making videos

No way man, every time you guys post a video here you, everyone's jaw's drop! You guys always put out great videos and are a really high standard to try and keep up with.

When you said there was a lot of post work done, you really weren't kidding. Great video, I didn't think it got repetitive... so much was going on to look at for me to get bored. Love the band as well, got their album the other week... I was thinking just last night "when are endeavor going to put up the SAW video... it's gonna be awesome", and it was.

Once again, great work, and any insight you guys have on doing a video like this would be greatly appreciated!

i'll give a little bit of a run down of what went on and post a few stills for you to see

all of the band stuff was shot against black - which means in post, we keyed out the person so we could actually put spinning gears behind them.

AFTER
drums-after.jpg

all of the gears we shot on white and spun them (shot on HVX as well). some of the gears were big and some of them were small. and then we colored them and added them into the shot. we added blur to some to really play with the eye to give the feel of depth.

all of the doors were operated by wooden dial rods. so behind each wall we had 3-4 people opening and closing the doors using a dial rod. so in post, we had to cut out the window if we saw people in the shot.

oops.jpg

the room was built with several flats on each side and then we cut out windows for the doors to be placed. the wall is all normal wallpaper you buy from Home Depot that we aged down to look old and beat up. we took it a step further and built a grid for the ceiling and attached vintage tin panels to which you can see in the live shots.

When i post the quicktime version later next week, you'll be able to see that when the camera pans through the window it actually zooms through some gears to the other "room". This is a 3D render that we used for most the shots just to add another element.

you can see a bunch of behind the scenes photos here: http://www.iendeavormedia.com/saw/

feel free to him me back if you have any more questions

That was F*cking awesome.

And yes, I support the idea of you giving any details about this shoot.

Best one I've seen from you guys yet.

Thanks! I posted some explanations of the shoot above. feel free to ask more questions though!

That was sick! What apparatus did you use to get the camera to "Fly" by the singer into the open windows?

You have some sweet lights and dolly stuff. Do you buy or rent?

Boys

Boys

Did ya'll shoot at that same place for the chasing victory video? I thought it looked familiar only cuz I was there.

I hate the compression(youtube look) I want to see this in quicktime! (Quicktime4life)

It was really dang good. You boys are just too good! "just two dudes making vids" hahaha.

Take care.

we rent

we did a handheld truck into the windows and shot i think at 18fps, nothing crazy.

no we shot somewhere else. the entire set was built from scratch. we just shot in a small room above a bar where old men go to drink - haha

Can you give me a quick rundown of the lights you had on the ceiling to light the room? I'd like to be able to walk into my rental house with exact specifications if need be.

the ceiling was all made lights that our lighting tech made. nothing crazy. we had some bare bulb fixtures and 2 china balls. and then we had the practicals hanging around the room

you can kind of see where light is coming from here:

we took the drop down ceiling out and put two light fixtures up in them. the light fixtures were 10 lights each probably like 120w lights or something - but homemade.
