Second Letus35mm adapter test

Letus makes an adapter that flips the image for you, so you don't have to use the goofy "magnet" trick and you don't have to flip your footage in post. I think they call it the Letus Flip, and it retails at $600.

thanks guys... the letus is good but not sure if I'd say it's great. Actually, it's not great, just good. There is a soft image and some grain but it's only a $300 adapter, lol. I'm shotting a short tomorrow, the entire short will be with the letus 35 so I'll keep you guys posted.

monte, yeah it was all with the 28mm.

Larry, I shot a short yesterday (17 hr day, ugh) and all of it was with the adapter. Can't wait to dump it and see what it looks like... I'll keep everyone posted.... Later cuzo!

chris, I used the magnet trick and flip it all in post. Honestly at 1st I didn't think it was going to be a big deal but while on set yesterday I realized how much of a hassle it is to try to frame and think backwards in order to get the shot..... It's difficult and confusing.

where do you put the magnet on the camera to flip the image? the back of the lcd?
does anyone know if that is ok for the camera?

On trhe dvx the magnet goes on the inside edge of the flip out screen. Place it just under the hinge.

As far as I know the internal flip mech. works on a magnet system also. So as long as you don't use some industrial strength NASA magnet, you'll be okay.

(There is a ton of info on this site and others about this. Do a search)

FINALLY got to watch it!

Looks good... Lotsof blue fringe. But actually has a very uniqe quality.

I think this 35mm adapter is gonna become the "look" soon. lke razor thing Dof everywhere. Kinda liek the way the High contrast super sat. colors is the "edgy" thing now. People are gonna start to want that Grainy soft Razorthin Dof look everywere. It really does good though. Flaws and all. it has a nice quality to it.

Also the Thin DOF will make the Detail peaking function really useable. cause even at wide angle you will be using it.

Nice samples! and I like the feels of the footage with the music, good choice.

While this problem is not unique to the Letus35, I noticed the same problem while using it. Static shots where not that big of a deal, but when it comes time to pan, it took some getting used to becuase the image is also flipped left to right.

Although with the Letus35 Flip this is not longer an issue.
