Second camera help?

Well I've been an amature film maker since I was about 12 using the family camcorder and worked my way up as I grew. I went from vhs, hi8, and finally minidv. Currently, I'm using a dvx100b with rode-ntg2 shotgun mic and a pvgs-500 as a second camera. This was fine for me but lately I've been getting lot's of work filming for bands. I shot some real nice footage, even with my gs500 for closeups, and turned out decent but i think it would be more proffessional to upgrade to either a second dvx or xl2. The reason I say xl2 is I read up on it and reviews say its excellent for concerts and live events. Don't ge tme wrong I'm still all about the dvx100b but it may also just look more proffessional since the bands im filming are quite proffessional and have good equipment themselves. Then maybe I could charge more too :) Anyways, I read about the comparison on the three camera shoot out on here and its clear both the dvx and xl2 offer great 24p. Any advice? Thanks.

Stick with the DVX for the second cam. You'll be happier you did when it comes to matching your shots.

I was seriously looking at the XL2 & tested both cameras before buying. It was the more colorful look to the DVX that sold me but I would have prefered interchangable lenses.

I agree with Steve, having two identical cameras helps you in comparing shots and you also have experience with the DVX100B so you know how to work with the camera and get the shot you want without having to bend over backwards.

I own a DVX and have an XL-2 where I work. The only advantages of the Xl-2 for your situation would be the ability to get a longer lens (20x) or the wide (3x). It also shoots 16x9 native, but your DVX doesn't, so that doesn't really matter.

The biggest thing for me is the DVX image looks much nicer than the XL-2, and the XL-2 does HORRIBLE in low light. I've done weddings with both cameras, and it is truly unbelievable how bad the XL-2 can look.

Unless you need the extra wide or long lenses, get a DVX.
