Searching for the right Camera.

Hello there!

For the last few weeks I am doing a research for cameras that might suit me (and my budget for a camera, which is around 4k euros) for doing what I want (I have some scripts that I want to shoot in the near future). I started without knowing anything about how DV cameras work and now I think I got a grasp of the basics.

What I am looking in a camera is:

"The Film Look" (which means 24p) (among other things of course)
and 16/9 (because that's what I am planning to shoot)

Actually I don't really want to make something that will look like it's film. I just dont to shoot something that looks like "a video from my vacation in florida".

Now, from what I gathered, film look is mostly motion blur and the correct frame rate (which is 24). to Get motion blur you need to shoot at as low a frame rate as 24 and progressive (obviously). Some cameras offer progressive modes but not all of them offer 24p.

The problem is though, that I live in europe... And the european versions of all cameras here offer 25p instead of 24p. And actually those that offer 30p in the NTSC versions (which from what I understand is unacceptable if you want to have film-like quailities) offer 25p in PAL instead (and increased resolution usually).

So now that it seems we got 24p out of the way and I just need a camera with a progressive mode!

So now I n eed a camera with :

Progressive mode
Good 16:9 support.

Based on those two requirements, what other cameras are there? I rejected the XL2 in favor of the DVX100A (or wait for the B model? but from what I gather it won't have any advantages over the A model). But one of the DVX100A strength is the ability to shoot at 24p, which in europe is not very special because all progressive cameras shoot in 25p anyway. So one of the DVX100A strength over other cameras is lost over the competition (I'm not saying that it's a bad camera now, some footage I have seen is very impressive anyway).

So do you have any other suggestions? I'm not asking you to do the research for me, just give me some pointers on what I should look for...

Oh and about the DVX100A. I know there is an adapter for 16:9 in which you don't loose any resolution, but I heard there are some limitations (zoom is limited? or something like that), is it true? And if it's true, what are the limitations?

Thanks in adnvance.
