HPX250: SDXC UHS-1 U3 card does not format in a Panasonic PX270

While waiting for my GH4 I received my Transend SDXC cards u3 yesterday and decided to try it in the PX270 with no success...it won't format.

I purchased probably the same cards before reading your post (95MBbps Read, 60 MBps Write) and they won't format either. Panasonic manual states SDXC. I guess that means nothing beyond like UHS? Very confusing.

Update: I just got off the phone with Panasonic Support. They said the PX-270 is only compatible with P2 media for recording. Any type of SD card will NOT work for recording.

So, this is a bit different than what was said in the past. Barry, any ideas here?

Well, that's nonsense. I've recorded on straight SDHC cards before.

There are two MicroP2 slots, and there's also an SD card slot. The SD card slot is only used for proxy video, but the MicroP2 slots can be used to record all types of footage on MicroP2 cards, and they can *also* be used with regular SDHC cards to record any video mode up to 50mbps (so, AVC-LongG25, AVC-LongG50, or AVCI-50).

I didn't try formatting any SDXC cards when I had the camera. But I did format an SDHC card and record on it just fine.

Thanks Barry. That is what I thought. So much for Panasonic Support. "Tier 2" was even consulted to bring this information. I have some Class 6 SDHC cards left from my HMC-150 days so I will try them out and return the SDXC cards.

Update #2 - A different Panasonic rep. told me SDXC should work, but did not know which brand or cards would work. I would like to have 64GB cards to simul-record with my 64GB Micro P2 card. SDHC tops out at 32G.
