SDI out not functioning with NTSC monitor

Ahoy lads,

SDI out not functioning with an NTSC monitor.

I have searched the forums and found most of what I need to know, except a very basic one. I purchased a cable SDI-BNC cable from B and H -

Was this the right one? I am thinking NOT because my SDI is not working, even with my menu settings at AV SDI out, yadda yadda.

AFAIK, the sdi out is HD. your NTSC monitor is likely not HD friendly...

Hi again,

The SDI out worked fine with the same settings on the Sony EX3, so I know it works with HD.

the ex3 sdi out is SD/HD switchable. you sure it was in HD mode?
and the 170s HD/SD SDI should be set to auto by default. but if its not working you might try setting it to 480i and seeing if that works.

I appreciate your time addressing this question, thank you!

I tried what you suggested and various combinations and menu settings. I'll just have to call b and h and have them steer me to the correct chord, I think. I am able to use the RCA component to monitor RCA component, and it works fine.

Alas....
