SDI Audio Out Problem

Not sure whether it’s me or the HPX500 but I can no longer get channel 3 & 4 audio out via SDI, I can see it and hear in camera. Am I missing something or do I have a problem, is there a way to select what channels of audio are output via SDI? I’m capturing via Black Magic Multibridge any ideas as to what the problem is?

Thanks

This is a worry

This is a worry

I have now tried to get audio out via SDI channel 3 and 4 on another NLE and that system too only sees audio from channels 1 and 2. Even though we can see the audio playing on channel 3 and 4 back via the cameras VU meters and we can hear the sound in cans attached to the camera. SO I am now convinced it is a camera problem or operator problem with the camera. I have gone through every possible configuration in the menu and audio out switches to no avail. Panasonic Aus have no answer for me yet. I'm sure when I find the fix it will be so obvious and steering at me the whole time, well heres hoping anyway. Cheers

Bit of a one man conversation here, perhaps I'm the only one using SDi. Anyhoo I have just played back audio channels 3 and 4 via the line out connectors which is starting to head me down the road of camera fault rather than a setting prob.

So you say that their was audio recorded onto 3&4, and you can hear and see the meter upon playback, but you can't get the audio out of the camera?

AFAIK, you should get all 4 channels of audio regardless of settings.

Please report back if you learn differently from Panasonic.

Best,
Brad

Fault with HPX500

Fault with HPX500

G'day Brad, yes I think I have found a fault with the HPX500. The audio for channel 3 & 4 is playing back on the camera and can be monitored through the head phone jack, and the line out connectors and seen via the VU's, but only channel 1 and 2 are being played out via SDI, which is bazaar. Cheers

Problem Fixed

Problem Fixed

Thought I should drop a note back, even if I didn't get a lot of help here, it might help some other poor bugger down the track.

We use Adobe CS2 and Multibridge Pro, when first loading a project you setup the project settings you’ll be using. In my case Blackmagic, this usually sets up the hardware with no need for any changes. Our system was doing this fine and everything was working, one day things changed for no apparent reason.

After numerous phone calls and test of the camera we decided to go back to the NLE and double check everything. We found that even though we were loading the BMD preset it was not changing the audio settings, rather it was leaving it as Windows. Walla changed it to Decklink (BMD) and problem solved. We now have 4 channels of SDI audio.

Thank you and goodnight.

O yes we have just started to use Final Cut via SDI and discovered that it needs to be setup for 4 channels manually. We learn something new every day.
