SDHC "check Card" Error Message Urgent help !

seems like everyone is at risk. this is pretty scary for me as i was pretty dead set on getting this cam for my HD cam...kinda making me think about saving and shelling out for the hpx170...

Is it me or does it only seem to be class 6 or class 10 cards that die? I might have to look at some class 4's. Makes me wonder if the Micro-controllers can really handle such high speeds for continuous periods of time with burning out or corrupting.

That said. I have no problems with OCZ class 6 cards. We really need a list of cards that have had no problems. And perhaps some sort of software than can put a card through a "burn in" procedure.

Seriously guys, I'd say we have nowhere near enough data to really derive any trends by brand or class... just a pretty small number of anecdotal reports... I wouldn't get too hung op on naming good or bad brands or classes at this point...

Sorry! I have been using mostly Transcend, some Panasonic, and one PQI card for over a year with no problems at all. I have had TWO cards fail - both SanDisk!

Which Sandisk cards were they?

I ask because I use the Sandisk Class 4 "Video" cards.

I sure hate hearing even Sandisk fail. It seems that almost any brand or type card can fail at this point.

I switched from "MicroCenter 16GB class 6" to "Sandisk ExtremeIII 8GB class 6" mostly because the ease of backing-up 8GB cards to a DVD-DL. Been using the Extreme III's for a few jobs now, and have no complains. I have 5 of them and they feel pretty bullet proof! (hope is just not a false sense of security)

I ordered my cards from B&H and when I was talking to the guy there he recommended the Delkin cards to me. He said they had the least amount of complaints about them than all of the rest. Strange that no one else seems to mention them here. I have only used them for a couple of months, but no problems so far (knock on wood).

Ah... I forgot! I actually have two Delkin 16GB cards in my set, and they've been problem-free.

Jeff: I'll check when I get home, but I think they WERE the "Video" cards... probably Class 4...

I have shot a lot using "Patriot" brand 16GB sdhc cards that I pick up at Fry's. I have never formatted them in-cam, just used them and shot with no drama whatsoever.

Now, I also have a couple 16GB Panasonic Class 10's.

I shoot with 2 HMC 150's. In my oldest 150, one of the first ones out, it shot with the Panny cards sucessfully, no problem, about 2 months ago. Been laid up due to health issues, now I can resume shooting....but in that first cam, when lioading the Panny cards, it says "cannot shoot in PH or HA modes, change settings". But I can still read files that were recorded on the cards previously.

Now when I load the same two Panny cards into my newer 150, I get no such warnings at all, it reads the Panny cards just fine. It seems very odd that a defective card could be read by one cam and not the other??? I am going to go back to just shooting with the Patriots, as I have had no issues with them. Ony have issues with the Panny class 10 16GB cards.
Any thoughts as to what gives here?

I just had the same issue tonight...

Delkin, 16gb, Class 6, is there any way to recovery the data?

I suggest also posting the part number. usually on the back of the card. Maybe it will shine some light. For example. I have heard good things about trensends, until recenlty when (from what I read) they opened a new factory in Taiwan. Some of there taiwan made chips were having problems (at least according to what I have read online).
Not sure, but hopefully part numbers are different.

Anyways,

My Dead Card:

1) A-DATA Turbo Series
32 GB Class 6.

Part# G32GNMB970393
Purchased around November 4th
Completely Dead, not just a scrambled file system

2) I format in camera before use of the card. I dump footage to computer and reformat card in Camera.

3) The card had been used 5 times for roughly 6 - 18gb of multiple clips per use. And a half dozen times for just a few short clips for experimenting with the camera settings.

4) I was recording a football game and stopped recording after each play. Stopped recording then about a minute later I turned off the camera (at half time). At start of second half I turned on the camera and immediately saw the "Check Card" error.
Ok! in November i bought an Adata card exactly the same model as yours, the same serial number and I've been using it until today it crapped on me (sorry for the expression but I lost important footage, it was mainly b roll that I had already film yesterday, but today I got some great shots way better than yesterdays'). It was a collectors fair where people show their collections (about anything). And today I got some nice shots of people looking at the collections, those shots kicked ass and they were great for the promo they asked me to make. I also lost a complete collection of really old radios... I'm lucky because I can shot that collection again during this week (1 hour lost).

Anyway I just needed to vent......

PD: anyone that has a card with that serial number return it or lock it in a golden chest and throw it in these coordenates 25°14'51"N 72°32'33"W because it's prone to fail.

I sent mine back to Adata and they sent me a new card with my recovered data on it. (took about 6 weeks due to data recovery).

Leary about using the new card for anything important though.

On a side note, My OCZ cards, which have worked perfectly data wise, are now falling apart. I bought two at the same time and the plastic started cracking in January so I sent it back. Took them (OCZ) 3 months to send a replacement! Now the other one is cracking. argh.

You have to send it to Delkin. They will retrieve it. I had the same issue with my Delkin, 32gb, class 6. Delkin actually admitted that there a lot of problems with their cards with this camera.

Do you have a number or contact with Delkin? I just had the problem.

There's a bad batch of kingston 8gig class 6 cards out there right now. I've been using the kingston class 4 with no problems but I'm wondering if there is a more reliable brand. The bad thing is checking playback in the camera is no guarantee that your card won't crap out. The only reliable way to check your footage is to get it copied to a drive.
