SDHC cards

I'm just going to do a static shot for auditions and I want to know what setting should I use to get the most time out of my card. I am using a 8gb card and last time I used it I only got about three hours of audition footage any suggestions?
Thanks
Rob

You could use HE mode at 6 Mbps, but there's something to consider when you shoot in something other than PH Mode.

HA, HG, and HE modes limit your choice of resolution and force you to shoot interlaced:
HA & HG are 1920x1080 interlaced
HE is 1440 x1080 interlaced

PH is the only mode that allows for 720p and 1080p shooting.

Thanks Bob like I said it's only for auditions and I want to get the most footage on the card that I can.
I'll give them all a try and see which setting will suit me.

I will try that. Any idea how long that will last on a 8g card? Last time I did this i got maybe 2 1/2 hrs on the card, but I didn't use the HE mode. Now in the camera I picked HE 1080 60i. Also can I format the cards in advance? ie format 4 cards at HE 1080 60i so all I have to do is just put the card in the camera when the other runs out.
Thanks

An 8GB Card at 6Mbps should give you around 3 hours or so.

Be sure to format any and all cards in the camera before you use it. This could be done at home before going out on a shoot. In fact, doing it at home makes the shooting easier. The formatting is just for the file layout and has nothing to do with what mode you are shooting in.
