Hello, I am new to the gh2, what´s the best storage solution, sdhc 32? any other solution like extarnal devices etc.?

best regards

My opinion is that you shouldn't go with a too high capacity card because if it craps itself you're going to lose a ton of footage.

No one says you have to fill up all 64GB...but if you want the most compatible card with all of the hacks available, the one I referred to is it.

Thanks so much, I did not now I had to take the hack as the starting point. I still have to hack the camera, I will post the details , I still have to learn how to do it

Hello again, i have hack the camera with flowmotion 2.02, what would be a good card for this? the same ones mentioned above?

What do you mean by "Span"? I am totally lost here

"Span" means that you can keep shooting until the memory card is full ( or your battery dies ) and your GH2 will keep writing new 4 GB file segments to your memory card. This means you can shoot for hours with your GH2, and then use the AVCHD import tool found in most professional editors ( I use Sony Vegas Pro ) to automatically stitch together all the file segments into one big AVCHD file on your hard-drive.

If your memory card can not "Span" ( because it's either too slow, or does not use the SDXC memory controller ), then your GH2 camera will STOP recording once it has reached a single 4 GB file segment. ( multi-segment video files can't be created ) How soon your camera stops recording will depend on the bitrate you are recording at.

...I have shot one 90 minute take of a musical symphony using a 64 GB SDXC card and still had room for another 30 minutes of shooting. If I has used a memory card that could NOT span, then I would have to keep pressing the REC button every 7.5 minutes and I would end up missing the parts that happen in between each of the 7.5 minute recordings. ( huge pain in the *ss )

NOTE: The SanDisk 30MB/sec Extreme cards have a 10MB/sec minimum write speed, which makes them TOO slow for high bit-rate GH2 patches.

Just to clarify you mean the over 100mbps patches, like Driftwood right?

Lpowell post on his 100mbps Flow Motion patch states:
Records reliably with Class 10 30MB/s cards, with 60Mbps file-spanning in 24L, FH, and H modes.

...If Lee vouches for the Class 10 30MB/s(READ) cards, then they must be OK with his patch.

The slowest cards I use with FlowMotion ver 2.02 at 24H are my cheapo Patriot EP cards which have a tested write speed of 30MB/sec. ( at one point you could buy these 64 GB SDXC UHS-I cards for $40 each )
