SDHC Cards for GH2

A few users in the sticky thread in the AF100 forum have said that they've had Transcend cards die an early death. If you're shooting footage of your dog, go with Transcend and save some cash, but if you're doing paid shoots, I'd say get SanDisk or Panasonic for the peace of mind. I just ordered a couple of 32 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro cards on sale for $150 each.

Good point that. My theory is more small cards spreads the risk of loss\damage. So I use smaller cards, 8gb, switch them out as needed. But I can see the value in having a large card on hand. Since I just stocked up on 8giggers Ill save some penny's for a high end 32gb to have on hand for those long shoots.

Be wary of cards from ebay or Amazon Marketplace, or even "bulk packaging" from Amazon. There are a lot of counterfeit SD cards on the market which look just like the real thing, and work initially, but typically die soon after purchase.

I bought 2 16gb transcend class 10 for my GH2, they work great and were cheap. and I've noticed that they are often cheaper than the class 6 transcend ones

Whats the duration a 8Gb card captures in 1080p mode? Trying to figure out what should I buy as getting them shipped from the USA.

Thanks Ram...It helped my decide that a 16GB card would be good enough for me.

Have being researching for the cards...Looks like SanDisk 30mb/s, class 10 is the one, which would work out well. Whats a good price for this card and a good place to get it from??...Ebay guys can't be trusted on this.

Was wondering whats the difference between SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I Memory Card, 45mb/sec and 16GB SanDisk SDHC class 10, 30 mb/sec?

I have (4) 16gb class 6 and (1) 32gb Class 10 Transcend cards. They all work great. Been using them for my T2i, 60D and GH2. I Haven't experienced any failure or whatsoever and I bought everything from Amazon.:D

It seems fairly new. http://www.dpreview.com/news/1101/11011806sandisksdhcuhsi.asp

Read/Write speed seems about same as Extreme III based on other people's tests.

dpreview used Extreme Pro. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/PanasonicDMCGH2/page9.asp

Only $69? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/733801-REG/SanDisk_SDSDXP1_016G_A75_16GB_Extreme_Pro_SDHC.html

I use Transcend 32 GB Class 6 SD Cards and they seem to hold up just fine.

i just had major errors with Transcend 32G class 6.
had it replaced and bought a sandisk 16G as a base card.
never gonna trust transcend for my shooting, it was a very scary experience.
