SDHC Card problem!

Like a good little videographer, whenever I take the card out for offloading I lock the card. This time when I went to record on the card it remains in the write protect mode. I flip it from locked to unlocked, but when I put it in the camera it flips itself back to the locked position. This is the second time the cards have done this on me. This time with a highspeed Lexar platinum two with very little usage. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and is there anyway to salvage these cards? X&&(9009==00!!!

So putting the card in the camera is physically pushing the write protect switch to locked? If so, maybe you can put t tiny piece of packing tape over it to keep it from moving?

I guess I wasn't such a good little videographer as I just shot a whole feature without ever locking the card. I read that the issue when transferring footage with an unlocked card is with the last file put on it, (FCP can overwrite that file), so I never completely filled the card, always stopped with a couple minutes left and never had an issue. I did lock the cards when finally putting them aside for backup.

The write-protect tabs on SD cards are fragile and can eventually work loose and even fall out. This happened to me last year with a card I was using on my GH1. Unfortunately, I didn't notice what had happened, and inserted the SD card back in the camera. That turned out to be a fatal mistake - the card slots in the GH1 and GH2 have a latent design flaw that will lock a card that has a missing write-protect tab inside the camera. It was necessary to return the GH1 back to to have its main circuit board replaced.

In the AF100's case, I don't know whether its SD card slots share the same design flaw or not. I'm not planning on testing it myself, of course. My practice is to leave the write-protect tab alone and take care not to disturb it. I haven't had any problems since.

The safe thing to do is quit using the cards, and attempt to return them to Lexar. Don't play with fire.

This is the problem with SD cards and why they are about the worst type of media out there. They are just not that robust. This is where P2 and SxS shine. I have lost several SD cards this way. As Bucknfl said, best thing is quit using it.
