SD9 Batteries on HMC

So is it true that the SD9s battery actually work with the HMC?? Can anyone who's actually done this confirm that fact. Also, what consumer electronics store could I buy SD9 batteries (best buy doesn't list it on their website). I need some extra power ASAP!!

They do work I've done it, but they're small batteries though, just get the large size one. And you can probably buy them anywhere they sell those cameras. lol

Yes I would like to know also, these could be low cost solution to the power problem. Imagine having a kit with the standard battery, the big battery and three or four of the SD9 batteries. You could shoot all day without having to plug in.

Ok i can confirm this works. The battery life is about 3 hours and this is the model number that you want to search for VW-VBG260.

duranracing23, the battery you refer to is about 2600mah, it will power the 150 camera for 2 hours at most. When a manufacturer calls a battery "3 hour" they mean powering a small, low power consumer camera. HTH

amazon is selling the smaller 1300 mah for $55, it shud run for and hour. pretty tiny battery!

I would rather buy the 5800 battery ($170) than the 2600 ($140)ones.

You'll actually only get about 50 minutes with one of the SD9 smaller batteries. I have 4 of them cause I have an SD9. Great for when you need extras and can buy from Best buy and all of that.

Hrm... Anyone else have experience with these? I think I'm going to try one, even if i get half life that's better then buying the standard battery which is way more expensive.

I was happy to get the knockoffs for the HVX but they all developed problems with not getting charged fully, not retaining a charge.. etc. I have had success with most of them, but it was short lived. If you don't shot that often then the knock offs will be fine, but if you shoot all the time then they'll go bad. Even both of the DVXuser batteries I bought went bad within 8 months or so. The panny one worked great the whole time I had the HVX. I think the same for this camera.. I got 5 batteries and I'm good. The money I save on P2 and tape outweighs this cost over time.
