SD workflow issues

Although this camera produces excellent 1080p images, in the real world we are still delivering movies on standard definition DVDs. This part of the AF100's workflow with FCP 7 seems to have been left out of all the hype!

I have output my 1080p timeline to a Applle Prores HQ 720x576 PAL 16:9 file ready to import to DVD Studio. I am seeing lots of interlacing problems (flickering) on detail such as horizontal lines. I've tried sending to Compressor - same problem.

I have been shouting out to my clients how wonderful this new camera is, but even my client, who is an experienced editor, is puzzled by these issues, and it looks like this lovely new camera will soon be on eBay.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I just edited 14 tvcs (1080p) and exported them to a DVD directly from my Premiere Pro timeline ( that also included other media and codecs) via Adobe Encore.

This is a dynamic link workflow and therefore does not require me to down rez etc for the DVD.

Results are awesome... so I suspect your issues are in the down rezzing and transcoding . I doubt its a camera isse so dont rush into selling it.

Get Adobe Premiere CS5 instead maybe.

I would export your timeline to Quicktime reference file or self contained movie then take that into compressor and use a preset for DVD Best Quality 90 minutes. That should give you a nice DVD ready file for DVD Studio Pro.

Prores HQ is overkill for AF-100 footage. Use Regular or LT. Unless you like to use up your storage and make longer renders. :)
