SD transfer to HD

I am sure this has been answered in this forum, somewhere but I would like to know from someone who actually experienced it, what it looks like to transfer SD footage to HD.

I think few award winning documentaries were shots with a DVX100 (a or B) and then been blown up to HD...but is there a way to do it right?

Has anyone have tips and advices?

Iraq in Fragments was blown up to HD. Individual frames were output from FC as tiff files and brought into a high end finishing system for colour correction then uprezzed through a Terranex upconverter. amazing quality and beautiful film.
