SD footage from the HVX?

Has anyone used the HVX in 16:9 SD mode, capturing to DV tape?

Does anyone know of a link to where I can watch some?


Im talking with some friends about investing in an HVX. But we cant do the whole P2 card/laptop/firestore thing just yet. So we're thinking of using it in SD mode until we can afford to work in HD.

Wrong forum, but I did a shoot with the HVX and the PD 150 (my only DV shoot ever with the HVX)

The image from the HVX really impressed me.
Beat the 150 in an incredible manner

But the lightsensitivity of the 150 impressed me likewise. Had almost forgot how forgiving my old love was to lowlight.

Jeremy & Jon Tuttle are shooting their Drama Fest entry with the HVX recording to tape, I believe. Check their thread out. There are some grabs there.
 
i shot with the DVx today again. havent used it in a month. Jessus, i forgot how light senstive it was.

The HVX puts out AWESOME DV though. Its super sharp, and has better dynamic range. But the DVX is a tad sharper in 4:3.
 
ha, wait so you think the dvx is really light sensative....I havent tested it against the hvx but i figured they were about the same...the dvx was never very good in low light at all. that sony is great though if you need it. I shot a little to tape with the hvx and was pretty pleased deffinetly out performs the dvx interms of latitude and color reproduction a bit, but the diffrences are not mind boggling.
 
that shot with the little girl and the highlights on her hair.... if that was shot in SD mode then that looks good enough for me!

When is this film coming out? are there any clips posted? or not until completion? Looks nice.

You will have to wait for the fest. Only a few more days. I was really impressed with the SD images. We had planned to shoot HD but the darn P2 cards didn't come in time. But to my surprise things turned out pretty nice.
