SD card size

What is the size of te SD card I will need to implement the FBC firmware but also maybe future firmware updates? Better a little to big than to small I guess? On the other hand in the leaflet of the HPX I see they mention 16 GB and 32 GB in the accessories department but that seems very large ???

Thanks Barry. Hope I can pick up my HPX this Friday. I already downloaded the manual and was reading the audio part. This is not very good described (a bit scattered info over the manual) and the illustration could be a bit more readable. As I understand there are 4 input connectors one at the front, 2 at the back and 1 at the top. However at the top one can use a 2 channel receiver so does that means that in principle you have 5 audio inputs? Arent't whatever codec you choose at most 2 audio channels recorded at the same time? Can you make every selection of input recording so 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 2/3, 3/4, 4/4 (w.l.) ?? Hope it gets more clear to me when I can touch the cam :-))))

There are five potential inputs, yes, but only four channels you can assign them to. And all the available recording modes support up to four channels.

So if understand well you can can have 4 channels audio on one recorded video
signal, that is cool :-))) Is it right that channel nr. 3 and 4 can not be regulated manual only a limiter can be assigned?

I'm not sure if the HPX300 is different, but on the HVX200 and HPX170 you can choose between two or four channels in DV and DVCPRO. There's a menu item called "25M REC CH SELECT" which lets you choose whether you want to record two or four channels, and when recording to P2 it's always 48KHz/16-bit (so it's not like the 4CH on a tape camcorder, where 4ch means 32KHz/12-bit).

Perhaps the HPX300 is different, I'm not sure.

I found this in the manual but Jan can still be right since maybe DV/DVCpro is excluded. I also found at the same page that in the "menu" you can set the audio levels of channel 3 and 4 manually, so I was wrong :-)

page 54 of the manual at the top : This AG-HPX300 supports independent four-channel audio recording in any format (HD or SD).

At the bottom of page 54 : "To enable four-channel recording, the menu option 25M REC CH SEL on the AUDIO SETUP screen must be set to 4CH.

But then the audio (DV mode) would be 12 bit instead of 16 bit.

If you drop to DV it will be 12 Bit 32kH. Just confirmed with Engineering that on the SD side of P2 you can do 4 channels and they will be 48kHz 16 bit.

Best,

Jan
