SD card recovery

First job with brand new HMC-150 and 35 minutes into the first Kingston SDcard I got "check card" error message .
Lame.
I did everything that all of you tell us to do in order to prevent this from happening.
Now it's recovery time, but the card doesn't mount on my Mac via card reader so none of the applications you suggested work.

I read a post somewhere if you format that un-mountable card in the camera then it will be seen by your recovery application once re-inserted into the card reader. I want to hear any feedback before I go and do something crazy like that.
 
Hey Phil-
My HMC-150 is a couple of weeks old and running firmware 1.21. Forgive me but after reading the thread you linked me to it's unclear which version is suspect.
"-make sure you're running firmware 1.20 and ask panasonic where 1.21 can be download"
My cards are Kingston SDHC 8GB class 6, purchased at Frys in SoCal.
Since my last post I've had TWO MORE cards fail me on the job.
I used to consider myself a professional but thanks to now my regrettable switch from HDV/miniDV tape to SDHC cards I'm considering quitting and doing something else because THE STRESS IS GOING TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK!
Besides that nonsense I'd love to get to the bottom of this so I can settle in on a brand & size of card and be able to shoot without the anticipation of imminent data disaster!
