SD Card Read Only (Mac)

I have three Transcend SD Cards. Two 32GB and one 16GB. I'm trying to install Magic Lantern on all three, but they're all read only. I got Magic Lantern to work on my Sandisk, but it's only a class 4 so I'd like to get it working on my class 10 transcends.

When I go to the disk utility I am unable to choose any options when it comes to formatting the cards. I tried it on a friends PC and it was unable to format the cards as well. I tried locking and unlocking the card (switch on the card) and I formatted it on my t2i numerous times. Anyone know what may be wrong and how to go about fixing it?

Why don't you format the cards in camera first, then copy the ML files to the card and enable the bootflag?

Even when I format in camera it is still read only on my mac.
