SD Card Failure

While tapeless recording does offer many advantages, it also presents one potentially disastrous disadvantage. The failure of a media card and the loss of everything on it. I won't doubt there are some "horror stories" out there, but this is something we just didn't worry too much about with tape. At least I never lost any sleep over it.

So, as I try and decide between the 150 and the 170, I'd like to hear from folks about their experience with the recording media form both cams. Experiences good and bad are most helpful, especially when specifics are offered regarding the brand/model of cards used.

Thanks.

But are they still RAIDed?
Well, presumably, but ... is what still raided? There aren't SD cards in there, so what's there to raid? Individual core memory cells? They're probably parallel processed in some manner to get the speed up, but that wouldn't really count as a raid because it's not individual components being raided together.

I guess it actually doesn't matter at this point. I knew P2 was expensive, but when I finally tallied it up and saw that the required cards for my shoots would cost as much (or more) as a second 150, I pretty much knew the 170 was off the table for me.

I'm nervous about SD card failures too, but I'm looking at footage of a wedding i shot earlier this year on the DVX100 and the heads had gone out of alignment between weddings, so I ended up with unusable footage. You don't have to worry about all of those moving parts with the new cameras!
