Screwed Up "VTR"

May or may not be in the correct section, so I apologize before hand. Anyway, I have a panasonic 100bp (naturally) and I use a panasonic pv-gs59 as a make shift vtr for capturing. Recently I had to clean the camera because the picture had been clipping, blah blah. After the clean everything was back to normal. But now it's eating the tapes. The Panasonic guy says It is probably a malfuntion in the head lining, long story short he says it's 150 - 160 to pay for the head lining to be fixed in th gs59, but I only payed about 170 for it (after thankgiving sale). I guess what I am asking is, does anyone know how to fiix the lining, or what's a good price to fix the lining, so I know whether or not a local camera shop is gipping me. Also, I am preparing to get my heads cleaned on the 100bp, I haven't gotten the red x, it's just I want to be precautios because the hours I have used. Anyway, too clumsy to clean myself, however the lowest price I have heard has been 75 bucks, good price or not.

Also with that, do you think it would be wise to capture with my first born son (dvx 100bp, lol) until I get my camcorder fixed or a new one. I don't batch capture or anything I just capture everything and then go back and delete the footage I don't need, so it won't be constant stopping and starting

Id probably just buy another cheap capture cam instead of getting it fixed.

its not gonna kill your dvx to capture some tapes with it. panny wouldnt have made it able to play back tapes if it were not meant to do the job. :)

makes sense, thanks for the quick response. My only problem is that, the cheap cameras are just probably keep on breaking right. So every 50+ hours of capturing a camera takes, I gotta shell out another couple hundred bucks to get another, it's not very cost effective. SO what do you guys thinkg, anything under like 75$ I should roll with for repair price.
