Screwed up Exports

Does anyone ever edit a video and it plays fine on FCP but when you export it some random frames appear, it flashes to green for a few seconds and/or lags either audio or video? No matter how much I render the original time line this would not go away. They seem to happen when multiple effects are used. I applied just simple colour correction on footage shot on my Canon7D last time, and at the same time a cross fade and the export was totally screwed at that point. It plays totally fine on playback on FCP, but upon export (I exported raw .mov) the video flashes to green and always screws up at that certain point.

Other times even on the time-line the play back would poo poo up and have a random frame appear for no reason. Going through the video frame by frame and I can see no such frame exists. Even after cutting the video to supposedly get rid of the damanged bit, the random frame appears yet again in a new location, the same relative distance to the start of the video.

Anyone know how to avoid this? Or is this an instance of a bug in Snow Leopard?

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Did you convert the 7D footage is pro res before importing in FCP.

What version of FCP and what sequence settings?

And what export settings, ie codec, frame rate, etc?

Sorry for the late reply.

No, didn't convert the 7D footage in pro res before importing in FCP. Should probably read up on that. Happened before with footage shot on the Sony EX-3 as well but not as much.

FCP6, sequence settings were automatic as they were first dragged onto the timeline set by FCP. Settings are 1920 x 1080, HDTV 1080i (16:9), Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square, Compressor H.264, Audio 28 kHz, 16-bit, Channel grouped.

At the time export settings were just raw Quicktime, 25fps, .mov files.

Should I always convert footage in Pro-Res first before any editing is done?
