Screw it! I have 20k And im Making my Feature!

if you don't have a buyer for your film before you start, chances are 1 in 10 million that you will make money

if you don't have tom cruise or similar in your movie, chances are 1 in 10 million that your movie will get distributed theatrical

if you don't have a hit series tv star in your movie before you make it, chances are 1 in 10 million that your movie will find a distributor in the foreign market

you want to 1 in 10 million odds? Las Vegas is better. Go over there, enter a casino, bet $20k on number 23 on the roulette table and you will have one chance in 37 of winning $700,000. Those are much better odds, don't you think?

why 23? I was advised by this kid that came back from Las Vegas (I was just on my way to go there). Out of the blue he says to me, "23 hasn't come out in 4 days, bet on 23."

so the first thing I did when I got to Vegas was go to the roulette table. i said to myself, "let me see what this kid was saying." you guessed it > 23 comes out -- the ball was already rolling when i got to the table.

Hey, I checked out your stills. Rock on! Finally, someone that can shoot HD and not give it that "warm" tone that seems to be so popular! You're doing things different. That's good. That'll make you stand out. Keep it up!

Thanks man! Appreciate the kind words. As i mentioned before i will basically have this forum be the judge on certain scenes and critique them when this gets rolling. I want to people to participate in kind in what goes in and what stays! But the look i like it has that dirty grimey look i just love!

I agree with what you are saying but lets take a moment and listen at the success that "Paranormal Activity" is having.:violin:

Also i understand about having B-List actors in this movie. One of the things that i dint mention was the fact that i will be calling in some favors from some of the hottest latin artists right now. I made some connections shooting music videos you know.
All in all thanks for all your advice everybody i look at this thread every hour and take everything that everybody sais into consideration.

Two things will kill you movie:

1. Audio - if it sounds crappy it won't matter how well filmed or acted it was.

2. Story - if you do not have a solid base three acts story with the beginning middle and end and you do not keep the audience engaged than it also will not matter how well filmed or acted the story is.

If you have not done so I would suggest you get someone to read your script before you start filming. I'll be glad to read the first 10 pages and give you feedback.

But your script needs to be solid as does your audio.

Those are definetly 2 of the most important areas that i am concentrating in right now. As far as the screen play. Those who would be so kind and give me their feedback i would really appreciate it. When im done im going to send it to some people on here that are willing to take their time and read it.

I'm with you. I'm all about the dirty, gritty, and raw looks. Can't wait to see the flick when it's done!

For sure! Man Thanks! You would be one of the first people to know when its done!

I checked out your film "Red Queen" i am curious to know how did you do with it?

one good thing going for you is that 20K is not a huge amount to bet on films. In other words lets say you loose all of it still its not end of the world. you are young (I am assuming here) and surely will be able to go on with life after the loss... so ya go for it. you never know your movie could be one in 10 mil! end of the day you would have made a movie (good or bad) and wont have any regrets.... trust me there are millions of people making shorts and music videos but the number is dramatically low when it comes to features relatively speaking.

cheers and good luck

I'm going to take it out in the foreign market, then I will know. I will report here... on DVX user.

It would be irresponsible of me after all the decades of making movie to say to you, "Break a leg:)". If you just want to learn how to make a movie, here is a suggestion. Go into partnership with Nathyn and invest your money into his action movie. Not only you are very likely going to recover your money, you probably will even make a profit. He has the locations, the story, and the cast.

Send me the first act now so you can see where you stand structure wise. Screenwriting is my thing, so email me.

LOL. I hope you give this advice to everyone.

It would be great if we could work together as filmmakers, but unfortunately filmmaking is such an ego trip. I used to think that through forming an indie distribution company, filmmakers can unite to get their films out and make a profit; but that hasn't worked so far either -- too many dreamers.LOL

I admire the people who put a dollar each and buy a lottery ticket with 100 chances to win.

Why cant we all just get along.LOL

LOL. I'm sure whatever you do will be pretty good just do it and count those pennies. I still think you should shoot something for maybe $1000 first and then go for it. It's so much to learn. If you can shoot on $1000, then shooting on anything more is a snap.
