I 'm scouting some locations for shooting a music video so I though I would post some of the grabs. We will use maybe 1/2 of these lcations in the final shoot.

Yeah I know the last shot is blown out. #4 grab is CCed, but the rest are original 30p grabs. These are not the the final framing or exposure of the shots, but juts for location scouting purposes. All the footage has motion to it which acount for the extra blur in some grabs.

The only locations I like based on the stills are the last 2, but then I think there are too many vids these days with tags and whatnot in the background. DDaman im tired ognna go to sleep i cant event type correctly jesus its getting owrse AHH!

Phew...be original...the first few are tired. Honestly, none of those really strike me as unique. It's hard to say...guess it largely depends upon the band and music more than anything...I mean it seems to me that that is the point...promoting the music via the video and imagery. What does the music tell you? Strong beats? Cruising music? Club music? College? AND THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION...and I'm assuming you're asking for feedback, otherwise, what's the point of posting these here...so...heh...look into the emotions of the music for inspiration...if you can't do that...talk the drummer into hanging with you on the scouting trips...as a musician myself, I think the drummer and songwriter usually carry the undelying intent or soul of the music...this should guide you to the right set.

too much coffee.

Be original... OK, what would you do differently? What would be an example of a unique grab? I posted these with no CC because people are always saying they don't see enough raw grabs.

Yes, I am asking for feedback. I can dish it out and I can take it as well, but tell me what you would do differently based on what you see to make the shots more unique and original? Do you have some examples of unique frame grabs you have shot? I know Monte does, and I really like his work.

These grabs are not for the performance, but rather a quick chase scene, and they will only be on the screen for a fraction of a couple seconds at most. The inspiration is plainly in the lyrics, as a break up song, but the beat is so fast paced that I cannot make a peice based only on emotion. Without giving away the whole treatment I have written the basic color pallete for my actors in the story portion is crome/silver assesories with 60% black and the rest bright vivid colors like pink, green, yellow, blue, orange, reds, etc. I am trying to match the color palette of the clothes my actors will be wearing, so I'm trying to capture them against colorful backgrounds, and shiny buildings etc.

Here is a clip with handheld footage

I do really appreciate the feedback.

Thanks guys

Hey Monte,

Thanks for the comments. I agree about the tags. The first one is actually a Vespa shop, and the other has no real meaning to me I just though it might add something to the live action. The whole idea with the colorful mural is I was going to have the dude's eyes follow the action as they run by. I have already decided that I'll be using the last two grabs in the shoot with a little better framing, and maybe #1. I really dig your vid "Stranger", and If I can bring it all together as well as you did I'll be happy.
Later

Prof. D loves his ellipses. Haha.

I like the escalator shot, but yes, most of the others seem too "been-done".

Hey Kev... i like the shots overall. To me, your originality will show more from how you connect the tags and whatnot to your band and it's music., not just from the graffiti itself.
