Scottish Highlands

Had an idea of a movie set centuries ago, in the highlands of Scotland.

I've never filmed in mountains before, nevermind the highlands. I just need advice in general for filming up there. I haven't worked out the length of the movie, but it'll be at least a few days to shoot. It was inspired by "The Eagle" movie, and loved the scenery in that.

Thanks.

As with any remote location, most of your issues are going to be logistical: Finding power, getting gear in and out, etc. Head up to your location and do a test shoot. Make notes of how long it takes to get to location, set up, light, and shoot, etc. That will give you a better idea of how much you can accomplish in a specific amount of time.

I'll obviously need to take quite a few batteries with me, just in case they're running out. I'll also need to be aware of the temperature, it's really unpredictable up here!

Check the special features of 'Valhalla Rising' for a sneak peak of what you're in for and how to get the most out of the location. They touch on the logistics, trials and tribulations of taking a crew out to some of the remotest areas in the north of Scotland.
