Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

I finally saw this having never read the comic and never even noticed the marketing. A friend recommended it so I got the DVD thru netflix - LOVED IT !
Wasn't until the 2nd fight scene that I 'got it' (what the fight scenes metaphor was representing)
This film is up there on the pedestal with Heathers

Was the base aspect ratio supposed to be 1.85:1? Because it seemed like the DVD pooched it a couple of times, cutting things off which looked like they weren't supposed to be.

Of course, this was the Netflix rental DVD and not Blu-ray.
