GH4 Scopes App - Fullscreen wireless monitor on your Phone!

This guy is beta testing an app that streams the wireless video signal from your GH4 to your iPhone, like the image app. Biggest difference is that it's full screen, and has controls for anamorphic desqueeze, and basic contrast / saturation adjustment for VLOG. The lag is the same as the image app, and the stream maybe a little more stable. And for 4k I think the lag is slightly better than the HDMI out. The GH4 wireless video maxes out at 640x360, so resolution wise it's not the greatest. But peaking comes through fine. Connects the same way as the image app, just log in to the camera's wireless network on your phone, and the app will automatically lock in.

Ive been using this for a few days now..works great for framing and a directors monitor..Also works perfect with my LX100.

This looks superb.

If panasonic would write a FW which could show aperture, shutter speed and iso actually in camera screen it would be a huge improvement. It would make these kind of phone apps almost useless. I think it is quite difficult to program such a FW. They have tried it for several years but no succes yet.

Tried it with my GX7 and GH4 works better than the Panasonic app, full screen display that stays on, the Panasonic app shuts off after less than a minute with the GX7.
The developer is going to offer a discount soon, the more people sign up for the free beta the bigger the discount on the full version.

I tested the beta and was womdering if the resolution will increase in paid version.

From what I've read, the resolution is limited by what the wifi sends out. It's not a limitation of the app but the camera. So this is likely as good as is possbile.

Unfortunately, my phone is android and not an iphone.
This looks cool and I just signed up. I haven't received a confirmation or download link yet, but they do give the option for Android in the sign-up form, not just iOS.

Hey, I'm the dev. I am a iOS dev, and the Android version I'm collaborating with a friend to get off the ground.

Right now I'm doing a promo 25% off the iOS app for a week, until Dec 11th, as a thank you to the current beta testers for spreading the word.

If you're interested in supporting the project by buying it, here the App Store link: http://bit.ly/scopes-ios-app

Regarding resolution; I'm using the best resolution coming out of the GH4's WiFi. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do to force the GH4 to send anything better.

Shared the app link to the gh4 user group on Facebook. Going to share it to another groups.

To the developer:

Why when I hit record on the GH4, the image on the scopes app changes and gets much less contrasty. It then returns to how it was when I stop recording? Its kind of annoying. Can this be fixed with an update?

I checked out the app, it does not say that it is only for GH4 cameras. can I assume it would work on Sony etc? Just wondering.

You could check out Adam Wilt's FieldMonitor app for iOS. From his website:

FieldMonitor turns your iPhone®, iPad®, or iPod touch® into a wireless picture monitor / waveform monitor / vectorscope / histogram. See exactly what your camera is doing, without tethering your camera — or yourself — to a hardwired monitor and set of ’scopes.

FieldMonitor works with compatible Panasonic™and Sony™ cameras, or with Teradek™ Cube™, Clip™, or VidiU™ transmitters.
