I love the rays/flare on the sun. How many iris elements? And are they rounded or squared?

Seems like you were pretty wide. I wonder how it compares to the Tokina at 11mm.

I think there are nine iris elements and they are square. (Pardon my incredible ignorance.) Many people I've spoken to keep mentioning the Tokina; interesting. This is such a versatile lens. You can get up really close or go way far back; close the iris all the way and get these really incredible flares. In the video I used s-log and recorded it to a Pix 240.

I bought the PMW-F3K and always thought it was one lens short of a complete range, so in the process of selling old equipment, I decided to purchase this lens because it will work on other PL mount cameras, whereas that really expensive zoom lens can only be used on the F3. It also has a small amount of zoom, but only enough to reduce the wide edges.

That's interesting. The Tokina is also 9 blades and F2.8 is usually equivalent to T3.0, so pretty much the same specs. I'm going to have to try a sun shot at f22 and see if I get the same flares.

It would be nice to go the PL route as you have done, but I think you also need to go longer and I just didn't have the budget. The Tokina makes a nice match to my Nikon zooms with the next up is the 17-35mm so it fills a perfect niche. I love the idea of matched sets and if Sony had done more than just 35, 50 and 85mm for their lenses I may have gone that way to get the electronics.

As it is I have the 24, 35, 50 and 85mm Nikons in F1.4 for primes and zooms covering everything from 11mm to 200mm in f2.8. Its great that our cameras can handle so many lenses. People that can't afford $7,000 lenses still have good options.
