This is a teaser trailer for a sci-fi feature that a mate of mine has almost finished; it’s in the final stages of post-production. Not too many independent features get made in Australia so I like to spread the word and help out if I can.

It suffers from the usual youtube compression/resizing fiasco but it still looks good. I am going to go over and watch a rough cut of the movie tonight so I will get as much info as I can if anyone is interested.

Thanks.
Pete.

not bad man, if i were to critique it, id say the text not the computer text scrolling down, but the "what am i" text looked a bit cheesy

I agree with that text looking a bit cheesy. It's the font that makes it cheesy. I'm not sure of the theme/pace of the movie, but it looks a little slow and the shots seem a bit repetitive. For an opening scene, its not bad...but as a trailer? It doesn't really intrigue me to watch it as much. Maybe showing more? Faster cuts?

Just some suggestions,

Kegan

Like the shot of the man on the bed, but the other (and only) one wasn't the nicest shot. Felt like there was a lot to work with to make it look beautiful, yet the shot fell short.

I see from the description, it's along the lines, or inspired by films like Solaris and 2001 Space Odyssey. The thing about those sci-fi films is that they really worked at making all the shots beautiful. Space is a beautiful place. I think it's working, but aside from the man on the bed, the other shot isn't as strong.

Mind you there's not much to comment on. Try and show more for a trailer.

And yes, the text is a tad cheesy. Plus, if it's the future, wouldn't we have perfected speech from computers? I mean already in present time it sounds better than how it sounds in the trailer. But it's just a small thing.

So what's the thing about?
