Deadline: Nov. 20, 3006

In an unprecedented campaign to turn the spotlight on the country's best
independent, makers of short films, SCI FI Channel, in conjunction with
Sundance Channel, will be launching Exposure, an eight-week short film
competition that will allow the online community of both websites to crown
cinema's next master.

SCIFI.COM (www.scifi.com) and SundanceChannel.com (www.sundancechannel.com)
are now accepting submissions of up-and-coming filmmakers' best two to
eight-minute sci-fi, horror or fantasy shorts. These films will be judged
by a committee of SCI FI Channel and Sundance Channel experts, who will
review the submissions and post the best ones online each week. Fans will
cast their votes on either website to determine a weekly winner, ultimately
determining the eight finalists. These eight shorts will be featured in an
on-air special to be broadcast on SCI FI Channel preceding the online
voting to determine the grand prizewinner. That newly crowned cinema star
will be awarded a trip to New York City to pitch a project to SCI FI
Channel's Pictures Group.

Online voting will begin Oct. 23, 2006 and run through Dec. 17, 2006. For
more information visit www.scifi.com/exposure.

Excellent! Thanks for passing along the post! There is also an 8 minute Horrorfest accepting submissions in Boston. I saw it on craigslist. I haven't looked up the info in a while since their deadline was a couple weeks past dvxuser's deadline.

Will post info if people are interested. But the SCIFI/SundanceChannel fest sounds bigger and better!

Thanks!

Oh wow, wish I knew about this sooner. Still, plenty of time to submit something to this. I'm in, thanks for the info :0

I was considering submitting to this after horror fest, but there is something in the terms that I don't get:

You agree to negotiate exclusively with NBCU for a period of ninety (90) days after the end of the Sci-Fi Exposure Film Contest for the exclusive rights to your Submission. In no event shall you negotiate with any third party with respect to your Submission prior to or during such exclusive negotiation period.

Does this mean I would not be allowed to send to horror film festivals for that period? Can anyone interpret this for me?

It seems like it... a shame really. -- What's more important to you? National recognition or an HVX?
