I personally like the cheapie PSC $50 dollar one for the schoeps.
It's a mic with a lot of handling noise (without a cut-1)
and the PSC seems to work best (for me).
People seem to be liking the Rycote invision mount as well.
The CMIT5 sounds very similar to the mk41 with slightly more reach.
I've used it on a feature and every single time I had my boom op switch back to the mk41
at the last moment. Too many reflections on interior scenes for my taste.
If I need the reach I go for a cs3.
The quality of the sound of the CMIT is outstanding though.
Just my own personal pref.
I'd compare it to both actually. Sound of the mk41, slightly more reach like a traditional shotgun.
I guess if you had to pick..i'd say its more of a competitor for the 416 just because of polar pattern.
Would you happen to have any other long shotguns in your kit besides the 416? If so, I wouldn't hesitate getting the 641. While the CMIT5u sounds almost similar to the 641, getting it would increase the amount of long/short shotguns in your kit. Why not add a different mic that can be used in MANY situations. The 641 could be used in classical/jazz recordings as well. Interchangeable capsules too.
