Hello,
I'm new to this forum, my name is Axel Henry.
I'm french ( so please forgive my expression mistakes
) and I'm 21 years old. ( quite young, so, if you don't wanna listen to me, I'd understand haha )
That's for the personal part.
Now : I started a rental company last year, and now I'm growing up. I need to sell my Cine-Xenar set.
This set does not need to be introduced anymore, most of you must probably already know it. However, here's a little recap and the set is composed as follows :
25mm T2.2
35mm T2.1
50mm T2.0
75mm T2.0
95mm T2.0
The original mount is PL, but can be changed easily to EF if you buy the parts separately. Caution, the lenses will only cover APS-C in EF mount. Schneider says it will mount on APS-H, I don't know if it works with C300 but on the 1D MkIV, they don't fit (actually, like on the 5D, you can mount them but if you try to pull focus further than a certain distance, you will crush the inside plastics of your camera. 75 and 95mm have not this problem, but you have some little "thumbnailing" (not sure about this translation, I mean darker corners)), so you won't have infinite focusing.
As for s35 sized sensors or film cameras, you get a VERY sharp image, nos aberations, no breathing (actually because the lenses breathes physically to prevent optical breathing), quite cold colors. While I could admit the colors are a little similar to recent Zeiss lenses, the Schneider provide a lot less contrast, especially in high lights. They nearly don't flare at all (again, due to physical construction, the housing is an integrated mattebox for each focal length...)
They are quite heavy, no doubt about it (in kilograms, sorry all, they are 2kg each approximately) and their biggest drawback is their "old" mechanic conception : the barrel moves as the focus is being pulled, so if you have long focus pulls in your shots, you will need thick follow focus gears.
Their advantages, well, wonderful image, those who tried know what I mean, hard to beat this set in this price range. Quite constant aperture on the set. Backgrounds are beautiful : up to 18 iris blades. They are all close focus... and have telecentric optical conception ( which I appreciate a lot, but, well, matter of taste maybe?
)
The set has done approximately 10 shorts and clips. Around 20 days of use, maybe less. They are in perfect condition, and come with a Peli 1600 (the original Schneider case wasn't in stock, couldn't accept to leave the store without a case)
I live in Paris. I don't know exactly how I could proceed if some of you guys are interested and don't live or don't go there much often. But I am opened to every proposition.
Price negotiation starts at $18,999 USD.
After all of this, thanks for attention to every each who's read, do not hesitate to ask me questions if you have some.
Thanks !
Axel
