Schneider 4x4" Digicon

Your comparison is a little apples to oranges. Schneider's black frost is the similar filter to the black pro mist. I often drop a 1/2 black frost in when I want to achieve more of a film look. I've used it to help mimick 16mm successfully on a couple of insert shots.

The Digicon helps to put more information in the shadows and low-end of latitude (knee). It will drop the contrast in the shot and flatten the image a bit.
