schlosspark grabs

been out with my son in the spring.
here are a few grabs of my getting-better-at-25p-experience.....
i have no idea what the correct size should be. i shot in PAL SQUEEZE mode. when exporting they are 720*576 stretched and i resized them in photoshop to 720*406, but i don´t think that is correct.

The DVX loves strong backlight if you can keep it directly from the lens - your shots are beautiful.

thanks for the nice words guys. considering i only used 15 minutes on this and moved in an area of about 20 squarefeet in that time i am very pleased with the outcome. the sun was just on its way down and the light hardly gets sweeter here, cos the mountains will not allow it to become really golden. next time i shall try the enriched matrix to see how that works.

yeah the first grab is by far the best. i tried to get some action with my son sitting down, but then it gets all too dark. need a lighttruck next time i go to the park.....;-) when i look at that clip i expect Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan to come out of the bushes and discuss some e-mails....

i am a bit disappointed by the shot with the sun in it. should have stopped it down a little. but it looks good in motion as a small pan. still a bit over.

After seeing the first screen shot, I wonder if Tim Burton would use a DVX100a for his next [scary, non-animated film]

I think we should lay down the Gaunlet to the movie industry. "We the dvx users challenge any and all Hollywood filmmakers to make a few flicks with our beloved camera."

Something like that. I know there are several that have been done in the indie arena like November and Buscemi's new flick....but we need a 100% straight outta Hollywood DVX movie. I'd like to see what the experts can do with this camera. I've been so impressed by our users I can only imagine what a team of hundreds and a budget of millions could do with it. But I guess they'd rather use the F-900 CineAlta or something. I just think it would be neat to see. ~reservoir~

Mmmm... makes me want to move back to Austria. The shot of your son with backlight reminds me a very similar shot of my little guy fifteen years ago - beautiful, with the rim of back light around the silhoutte.

They are all very nice. Some footage, please?

Nice grabs. The first shot of the benches is interesting.

Austria? You have a movie set right where you live! Very lucky.

clip is now up: http://www.dvxuser.com/V3/showthread.php?p=184140#post184140
it is very rough and the song is crap but you guys wanted it ;-)

HansK, we know we have a set here: we have constantly at least one INDIAN BOLLYWOOD filmproduction in town. I myself made the second untit for Columbia Tristar for a series for 2 years, parts of Triple X with vinDiesel were shot here, also Extreme Ops (which sucked). at the moment LL Cool J and Queen Latifah are in town shooting....etc....you wouldn´t believe how much comes from Innsbruck onto your screen.

Shaw and Raptor: the DOf is a result of my settings and Z99.

i used
SQUEEZE
ND 1/8
Detail -2
V Detail -3
Color Grade +3
Color Temp -2
Master Ped -4
THICK (i read after that i should use THIN.....thanks for the hint Barry)
SHUTTER OFF

i still need to learn a lot about the exposure this camera needs in 25p for certain filmmoods, but it is fun to learn.....

Heh! Innsbruck - my gateway to freedom. Back in 1989, that was the city where I went to the Austrian police and 'turned myself in' . They just gave me a bunch of papers to fill out and sent me to Traiskirchen. Austrians will know what that means.

That day, on a beautiful summer morning, I sat with my family at McDonald's just outside of the city with the beautiful ring of the Alps, ate a burger (that was all we could afford), and felt free for the first time in my life. What a feeling!

Innsbruck, city of freedom! Cheers to that!
