scenes of rain, sunset, insects

Hello everyone,

Just put together some test shots with my new HVX200. I must say this camera is out of this world. Used to own a Sony Z1, sold it, and never looked back! Variable frame rates are fantastic, and the best is no need to log and capture. Just waiting for the 16GB card to come out.

Thanks in advance,

- Nicholas

Looked good, I am glad you moved from the HDV to the DVCPRO SIDE.. Did you CC any of this in Post?

Well I am sure glad that you are on this side now. Also did you sell your Z1U. God I hope so, becasue after using this camera, everything else seems so much less. If not sell it, and take the proceeds and buy another HVX :)

Hi SurJones. Sorry for the delay in replying. I sold my Z1U on Ebay a few weeks ago.

Hi panda, thanks very much for your feedback. I simply exported the clip out of FCP using "Quicktime Conversion" with the H.264 codec. This clip is posted on my web site but it does take up a lot of room: 95MB! for exactly 1 minute.

Here are the export specs:
Size: 640 x 360
Codec: H.264
Frame Rate: 24fps
Key Frames: every 24 frames
Frame Reordering: checked
Compressor quality: Best
Encoding: Single Pass
Data Rate: Automatic
Prepare for Internet Streaming: fast start

Hope this helps. Not sure if I'm using the best or most efficient settings but would very much appreciate feedback. Thanks again.

Hi Jonnyh,

As far as I know, all the camera settings remain on the default factory programmed mode. I never changed any Cinelike settings. I don't think I even went into that menu yet. This camera is so rich in capacity. I'm still only just experimenting with frame rates right now.

Thanks for your interest.
