Scene with the GH1

Well your way ahead of me in that you've filmed this scene, but here are my thoughts.

I liked the script and the acting I thought was good.

But why only the two perspectives? Even if you cropped in editing you'd get a little more visual interest.

The sound is where it falls apart for me. Sounds like AGC flaying about and some ambient intrusions in the end, especially on the girl shots. The scene really needs intimate audio, much more close mic'ing, boomed or lavaliere.

But it held my attention. Which is good.

Thanks for sharing.

+1 to all...

the OTS's get boring for so long, you need to start off wide and move in closer. Also the kiss is the peak of the scene so you need a close up on that. it looks good and i agree that the audio needs to be more intimate but you have to work with what you've got. i applaud you for going out and shooting stuff.

I don't mind the 2 perspectives. It gives it some intimacy and leaves out all the unnecessary angles and movement that a lot of folks try to cram into shots. What I do have an issue with is the acting is very stiff. I would have rather seen more natural movement from the actors than extraneous angles and stuff.

My favorite 2 perspective scene is in Heat where DeNiro and Pachino are talking. Mostly 2 angles, lots of natural movement from the actors that give it the intimate feel.

Thanks guys. Yeah I had a two shot with a Canon FD 28mm f/2.8. But I didn't have the time to add more light to have the equivalent look of the single shots which used the Canon FD 50mm @f/1.4.

Yeah I hate the audio too. I think I will do ADR. I also wish i had a glidetrack device and a follow focus for the last couple lines and the kiss. Again, time constraints. We were shooting after 10pm and I knew everyone was already tired from their day.

Also, even looking at the 2 shot i had (with 28mm, f/2.8), compositionally, it's very flat looking. So, i dunno. But yeah, thanks for your input guys, most of your critiques were reinforcing some slight doubts i already had.

Will try for ADR and maybe take a stab at a slow digital zoom for the last few lines?

I liked it. Did you shoot 1080 24p or 720 60p? It looks like fluid 24p so if you did shoot 720 I'd like to know how you did the conform to 24p. My conforms always look like crap.

I agree that it could have used maybe another angle, and it def needs better audio, but for what it is, it flowed very smoothly and I think you have a good command of editing and the actors were could.. especially the girl.. very natural.

Keep on keeping on.

Well done. A bit slow getting there, but the acting was good. I believed the girl more for some reason... I just didn't believe the guy at all.

Nice job. I wish the lighting had more layers to it. The background seem overly lit especially on the shots of the guy. He's sort of blending into the background a bit because there's wood back there in a similar tone.
