Scene Settings for WEB

Three quick questions:

(1) I use the 'Color' setting from Barry's book to shoot a lot of my videos which are outside. This setting maximizes color saturation. Can this bring some artifact noise to the picture?

(2) The videos I shoot outside are mostly sports...is there a scene setting that's best for this purpose? It seems to me that they are just personal preference on the look you're going for, but I just want to make sure that's right.

(3) Those videos that I shoot outside are going straight to the WEB. These are my settings:

Focus - Auto
Iris - Auto
White Balance - Manual
Shutter Speed - 500 (Lacrosse)
Filter - When needed
No Gain

I'm not getting the best results after compression. I know that the settings during the compression process are mostly what determine the final product, but I want to make sure that at least I'm shooting at optimal settings in order for the encoding to take advance of because my settings in post are the best possible.

Thanks so much.

You might want to drop that shutter down to 120. 500 seems a bit excessive.

What are you recording at? I use 720 60P for sports with a shutter of either 60 (default) or 120.

What are the "color" scene settings? I don't have Barry's book yet. It's in the mail. (Finally decided to buy it.)

I've been using:

Detail -2
V-detail -2
Coring +2

Depending on lighting, I use ped 0 to -11. DRS if needed, usually for night time sports or hockey (dark uni's and white uni's on whiteish ice...).

I like the Cine-D setting but sometimes use Cine-V.
I like the Cinelike gamma since it gives nice color but it can blow out the red LCD's on score clocks.

Hi, thank you for your response.

You think 500 is excessive?

I shoot lacrosse and football and some recommend even more! I'm not sure.

The 'color' settings are as follows:

Detail +2
V Detail +5
Coring +3
Chroma Level +7
Chroma Phase 0
Color Temp Ach and Bch 0
Master Ped -13
A.Iris Level -2
DRS OFF
GAMMA Cine-Like V
KNEE Auto
MATRIX Cine-Like
Skin Tone Off
