Scene One of short video "Bandanna"

I'm currently working on this year's final project for my high school video class. I'm the writer and director of the short movie, titled "Bandanna." I also star in it (mainly due to a lack of available actors). It's a sort of comedy/experimental kinda thing. Lots of metaphors and stuff...

Anyway, we've shot two scenes so far, scene one and scene six, but we've been delayed since I broke my hand... well, one of the fingers on my hand... and I have to wear this soft cast on my arm. Needless to say, big continuity errors would occur. So, we have to wait a week until I can take it off temporarily to shoot.... blech...

In the meantime, I thought I'd post the first scene to get some feedback.

I admit, some of the opening shots are a little dark (okay, very dark), but it works for the feel of the movie.... even though it'll probably look grainy as hell on a TV monitor... *sigh*

By the way, the two songs in this scene are from Radiohead's album "Hail to the Theif."

I LOVE RADIOHEAD! They are my favorite band, and you usedtheir music in your scenes VERY nicely. This looks amazingly FILM like at the beginning also, what settings did you use on the DVX100 or DVX100a?

Re: Scene One of short video "Bandanna"

We shot with the DVX100, on regular 24p mode. No real special settings that I recall. I think the darkness combined with the city street lights is what mostly attributes to the film-like look. If you're looking at the shot where the opening credits appear, though, for that I slowed it down a bit and added a gaussian blur to the red channel in Final Cut Pro.
