Scene Files for Snow

hey team, just wondering i did some searching but didn't find anything to do with setting up a scene file for shooting in the snow. does anyone have some helpful hints or have some numbers for shooting in the snow?

Re: Scene Files for Snow

Just watch your iris....a bright sunny day, snow and a open iris could cause a washed out look that will not be pleasing to the eye.

Re: Scene Files for Snow

even with the ND64 you might need to close the lens to f16 in snow...an additional ND filter in front of the lens (screwon or via mattebox) will make life easier.
i tend to do a lot of whitebalance in snow. the colour changes every hour. snow can be anything from darkblue to dark red during a day. if you don´t want that.....whitebalance constantly. when a cloud moves in...whitebalance again or you get grey snow. and i do whitebalance on snow not on a white card.

Any idea what gamma setting would be best? (I use cinelike_d with the 100A almost all the time)...but it may not be the best gamma setting on a sunny day with lots of snow.
Personally I shoot with chroma + so I can get some color in the trees, otherwise it usually reads as black with those tiny 1/3" CCDS.
I'm sure Aaron (and I) would love to hear any suggestions.
Thanks guys/gals,

BB
