Scene Files available for download

Hi everyone,

Finally the Scene File page is ready for use. It has taken a very long time, longer than I thought it would. There are 118 files total for the current P2 cameras. They were created by DP Mike Caporale out of Cincinnati, and I really think he did a great job. YOu will need to register to down load any of the files but you will only have to register once.

Very cool - appreciate everyone taking the time to compile these. For some reason I enjoy other people's scene files much more than tweaking my own. Looking forward to giving these a whirl this weekend.

My only complaints would be that I can't download them all in one big zip and the registration process is a bit long to download some scene files. Would be cool if I had a single Panasonic login to access stuff like this and drivers and updates etc.
 
They are cool Jan. Often you go with a bit of trial and error pre shoot, all these are good starting points.
 
For the record:

To have all the files with you all the time, just dump them on the first level of the card.

Thanks Jan, I couldn't get the (SHUTEFX) to download. I tried a couple of different browsers and tried it several times. It goes to a blank page. All the rest seemed to be fine.

Hey guys I spent the time to build 5.5 x 8.5 pages in indesign cs3 of these so I can print them out and laminate them so I can have a set of quick reference cards. The idea is to print double sided and punch a hole in the upper right corner and put a small link chain in them to keep them together. I made a template and have all the text and picts and the template with the final pages in a folder that I can put up here or out on a server for download if anybody is interested.

If anybody has been able to download SHUTEFX please email it to me and I'll add it to the list. I thought it would be a lot better to have a visual aid to see what the settings look like out in the field. There a great place to start and will make it easy to show others what your trying to convey to them with a certain look.

Great looks, Jan. Thanks to those at Panasonic that put these together. I took Michael's idea and made a cheat sheet with just the name, pics, and brief overview but not the actual file info. I created a pdf for both HPX and HVX. Tried to post but too large. I'll try to get on my web site for download if anyone is interested.
 
Does anybody else have a problem with some of the scene files? 3 of them won't load in my HVX(200 not A). The problematic files are: Music1, Punchy, Velvet. I installed them according to the directions and all worked except for these 3 (on 3 different cards) It just shows up as FILE4 NO FILE or FILE 2 NO FILE (wherever the file was located)
Anybody have any ideas why this would be happening?

I had a similar issue a few days ago on set before a shoot. I read the instructions and followed them to the letter and had the same result you did. NO FILE etc...
Until I opened the .TXT file that was created by the camera on the SD card per the instructions and noticed the discrepency. If you open the .TXT file your camera created, on the second line you'll notice HVX200x where x=a letter specific to your camera. In my case it was "T" for some reason. I simply opened the scene files I got from the Panasonic website and changed the suffix letter to match the one my camera provided which was a "T".

If you open up the .TXT files from Panny you'll notice that all the files are "HVX200P" except the files you are having issues with (VELVET, MUSIC1, PUNCHY) which are "HVX200A". You can simply change the A to P and see if that works or take my first suggestion and change the letter to the same letter your camera created, which might very well have been "P" seeing as the other scene files worked.

I hope that helps. I wish the Panasonic site was clearer about that little detail. I lost an hour on set trying to figure out why my scene files wouldn't load!!!

Thank you for figuring that out! You saved me a lot more time that I would've spent trying to figure out what was different about those 3 files!
On another note, not that I have the camera yet, but does anyone know if these files can be converted for use in the HMC150?
 
I have HPX500 and I put all scene files to a scene file dial. In SD card I created three files called SCENE1.TXT, SCENE2.TXT, SCENE3.TXT. Each one consist six settings (F1-F6). In SCENE1.TXT I have changed: TITLE:MYOWN (you can name it like you want - only 8 characters and big fonts!) , <F1> is the same (DIGINEG) <F2> characters I have changed: there are items from <F1> of NATURAL (you can name it like you want...), <F3> is changed by <F1> of OLDPHOTO and <F4-F6> in the same way.

In SCENE2.TXT and SCENE3.TXT I have put others scene files from http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/scene_files.asp?model=HPX500
After saving changes on SD card I put SD card into my camera slot and in menu: CARD FUNCTIONS>SCENE FILE I have four names of the scene files: first - MYOWN, second - name of TITTLE: in SCENE2.TXT, third - name of TITTLE: in SCENE3.TXT. I choose one of these to load into my camera. If I choose first - MYOWN, I have immediately my favourite six scene files by rotating the scene file dial on the camera.
Quick, easy and very usefull! I do not need another "the same scene files" in scene file dial with different frame rate like it is in panasonic.com site. For me is much more important "my own favourite" six scene files I can have immediately.
It works!!!

We started the scene files this way but, I chose to have all the same because I have had too many phone calls form customers that had inadvertently changed the scene file dial and were wondering if there was an easy fix. So while this method works for you, be aware that it isn't always the best solution.

The way they are now is more like the bigger cameras: You load one look at a time, not six.

me :) i think having 6 same scenes is just not logical, you can always easily change the framerate, i will use east film's solution to fit all scene files, seems to be better solution.
 
Might anyone have any scene file settings they could suggest for getting the most filmic look with the DVX100? I'll be shooting outside. I know that they're situation-specific and will most likely need tweaking, but I'm looking for something I can start with as a base that folks have had success with. Thanks very much for your time!
