So what would be the best process for determining your scene files when you arrive on set? What is some of your methodology on how to tweak your settings when you pull your camera out and set it up? Do most of you just stay with the same settings all the time? Recommendations?

We set up the shot and use the eyeometer.

Would add...We tested by shooting a control situation and understood all the Scene Default settings prior to ever taking the camera out on a shoot. That is the solid basis for our judgments in whatever situation we find our selves in.

We dont stray very far from defaults.

I would say the key is learning what each setting does before you go shoot anything. I would say that combined with a good way to monitor things is your best combo of knowledge/tools to be confident. If you don't know what all the settings do, what good will any of it be to you? After spending a few days screwing around with the settings while hooked up to a production monitor, I feel like I found a sweet spot and that I might tweak here/there but beyond that I don't need to do much...unless I'm in some sort of really specific situation that calls for it.
