Can anyone tell me how to achieve this look in camera for the Chris cunningham directed video Aphex Twin - Windowlicker. I want to achieve those stealy grays and that hint of just the slightest warm. And does anybody have any ideas how he achieved the lens flares that he has in the video, I've worked with my camera alot and it still fathoms me how he created this in camera. Thanks.

Link to the look I'm trying to find:

It's likely that video was shot in anamorphic which allows for those cool (and hard to reproduce with spherical lenses) flares. I'm pretty sure you can get a plug-in to recreate those kinds of flares in post.

Otherwise, it's definitely film and I'd say you should use one of the cine gamma settings and tweak in post.

Do you have any Idea what that plug-in might be for the flares??? Also what about the color effect in this video, how did they get such soft tones? Is it just a matter of it being California and smogging and at dusk??? Or is there a scenefile setting I could make to get it as soft as those shots?

Check out "Knoll Light Factory."

You can also get real anamorphic lens flares:

As for the "look," it looks like it's a combination of the filmstock and the lenses. My guess is they used a set of older anamorphic prime lenses which tend to give that type of soft look. They may also could have used a Fuji filmstock or flashed the film to lower contrast.
