Scene file "Spark"

Seems to be both sharp and very low noise. Haven't really tried it on anything yet, or heard anyone discuss its pros and cons. Any input on that would be very welcome.

I've got a concert shoot coming up in low light (at least part of the time) and am wondering if it might be a good starting point.

Just seeing it while turning the scene file switch through all 6 presets while monitoring on a 42" plasma stopped me dead in my tracks. "Spark" is plenty sharp, and a lot less noisy than almost any other setting. What's strange to me is that apparently there's been almost no discussion of it here. A search of the entire HVX forum yesterday for threads with "spark" in the title resulted in zero hits. Odd...

I'm not familiar with "spark." Care to share?
Jim

It's a stock, factory scene file preset on the HVX200 and 200a. It's "f3" on mine. If it's been overwritten it should be restorable to default (save your own custom scene files first of course!).

Try it, you might like it : )

I'm gonna hook up my HVX to my LCD tv this weekend and play around with scene files.

Ted,
Thanks. I zapped my stock scene files back in '06 and really didn't pay a lot of attention to them at the time. I will follow you advice and reset things to the default settings. But, as you rightly suggested, first I'll save the settings I'm currently using on a project.
Thanks again.
Jim

It's not actually the encoding - it's a "hack" of youtube (the characters &fm=18 added to the end of any Youtube URL).

If you like that quality, you will love this- the same demo reel at a new site called
ExposureRoom.com. You can view a video uploaded at 1280 x 720 at near full
quality. And it loads in a second or two, thanks to being Flash based. After viewing
at medium quality, hit the HD button and check it out.
