scene file settings...auto

...if dvx100a is set on scene file F1...standard shooting...(or for that matter any of the scene files)...and if you then hit the Auto button...does the auto override the scene file setting or put that scene file then in auto?

fill me in on the scene files and their use with auto shooting ...

The scene file settings will override/alter any auto settings. in the SF settings you can set parameters that the auto will work within.

The auto functions are:

Focus - Scene File will not affect or vice versa
White Balance (ATW) - ATW will still wb but the SF will alter the image warmer or cooler as you specify.
Exposure - Again, you can program the auto to over or under expose in the SF
Gain - I just tried to get auto to turn gain on and it would not respond to even the darkest room, hmm....

is there a way to just shoot in auto mode and disable using a scene file...?

you can zero out any scene file settings.
