Scene file confusion

I am working with my scene files.. And I am trying to save individual scene files into the camera memory.. But it's not working as I feel it should.

I named Scene file F1 as DSK 1, then F2 as DSK 2 then go to back to F1 and then go to USER FILE and SAVE. I then do the same thing for F2.

Once completed, as a test, I RENAME both F1 and F2 to CAM 1 and CAM 2 respectivly.

The assumption here is that while in F1, if I go to USER FILE and select LOAD, I should then pull up my backup of F1 and it should load all of those settings. F2 should not be affected.

Well, I did this, but my F1 scene file still reads CAM 1 and not DSK 1 as it was saved.

So what am I doing wrong here?

Scene file and user file are two different items.

Scene files are saved at the end of the scene file menu section. Where you can read and write to a card as well as load/save/init(factory setting) to internal memory. This would be scene file menu 6/7.

User files basically saves all the non scene file settings. Which as you found is inthe user file menu 1/1.

Check barrys excellent book for more info...or the manual!

Yeah I did. But for some reason I cannot explain, I kept skipping the Scene File menu and jumping into the USER file menu. I wrote Barry and he very NICELY set me straight...

But I still feel like a complete idiot.

Thank you for the help

God.....

Don't feel like an idiot, its all part of the learning process! Sometimes I have to remind myself to go back to the book.

It took me ages with the my 200 to figure out scenefiles/ user files and saving to the Sd cards.
