scene file, color correction, squeeze

Hi there,
I'm filming short film, most of it outdoor landscapes and some indoor.
I have DVX 100BE, FCP Studio 2, Magic Bullet suite.
I plan to shoot in 25p.

I have few questions:

1. is it better to correct picture in camera or shoot it 'plain' and than correct in Color and Magic Bullet? Or both?

2. I have no experience with squeeze mode. I thought about shooting in 4:3 and then mask it to 2.35:1, or maybe to use letterbox or squeeze mode and mask it to 2.35:1.
Does anyone have more experience with this?

Tnx

I find it's best to do both. Think about the end-to-end process and what the best way to get your images is. Usually, you'll do a little of both. Do some test. MASTER PEDESTAL and COLOR PHASE are basic camera calibrations to get true images, COLOR TEMP, COLOR LEVEL, GAMMA, MATRIX all determine the look of the images, DETAIL and CORING, control sharpening and noise. You should be thinking about all of these things, whether or not you plan on doing something greater in post.

There is a limit to what can be done in-camera, so many looks you may get started in-camera and finish in post.

For one film I did, we wanted a look with no blue skies. You can't achieve that in-camera, but we did control all the other aspects of the image in-camera, and then used a selective Saturation filter to pull out the blues in post to finish the look.

Shoot letterbox. I'm just finishing up reading Barry Greens DVX book and he suggest letterbox. Or you can go 4:3 and crop in post.
