Scene Detection

When Im capturing in premiere 2.0 O used to just use scene detect to automattically make a new clip when the scene changes on tape. Now that I have just got my dvx100a It keeps saying timecode is required, Im pretty sure the timecode is getting recoreded to tape. What do I need to do to fix this problem, becuase I hate having a bunch of clips in one avi.

you can manually set the in and out points and record only the parts of each clip you need... which is what i do anyway.... you dont have to capture all the parts where people focusing and walking in front will never be used.
