Scared of losing footage.

Just curious, I get scared having digital footage only on a hard drive. Anyone have some advice on how to save it in another way? I get really scared of the whole concept of not having a tape where I know the footage will be.

Any suggestions? Get another hard drive and back everything up?

Thanks guys.

I save off to Blu-Ray, and highly recommend it. Costs less than good miniDV tape, and the dual layers are cheaper than full size DV tape. But no tape problems, like drop-out, getting mangled in players, no magnetic field erasing, no issues with humidity, etc. I recommend it highly.

Discussed many times. The best but alas most expensive way is to archive to LTO (or possibly DLT) tape. Tape is the only bondable medium so I guess that tells you something... Otherwise, make certain everything is stored on redundant raids.

sure, back everything up to another drive.

oh wait, now you have two drives to worry about, you might consider backing up to two more drives....

blu ray as back up is a good idea, one hard drive that you use and a blu ray as backup for emergencies. make sure you re-backup every few years just to make sure and keep everything up to new technologies.
